A group of scientists are training goldfish to drive what they call a "fish-operated vehicle." The study, conducted by researchers at Ben-Guiron University of the Negrev in Israel, aims to see if goldfish's navigational skills would work on land. A small goldfish tank was placed on a set of wheels, with the vehicle using a camera and remote sensing system that moves whatever direction the goldfish swims. The researchers trained the fish to move the FOV towards targets with a food reward in return. A press release from the study authors said it appeared "navigational ability is universal rather than specific to the environment."
