Apparently an Ohio license plate goof showing a backward Wright Flyer did not raise any flags during the approval process that was personally overseen by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and his wife.
With Ohio being where the Wright brothers were born, the new "Sunrise in Ohio" plate showed a Wright-era plane with a banner reading "Birthplace of Aviation" being pulled behind it. However, following the license plate's public unveiling, people noticed the banner was trailing behind what was supposed to be the front of the plane, not the back.
In their defense, that plane actually looks like it was backwards based on today's aircraft. However if you are the birthplace of aviation you figure that SOMEONE should have caught the mistake.
About 35,000 plates were made with this mistake before it was noticed. Collectors item?
