Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is recovering after a hit and run accident while riding his bike in Deltona.
20-year old Paige Bergman was later arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.
Sheriff Chitwood is hospitalized with a fractured leg. Chitwood said, “I go flying off the bike and what I could tell you it was a burgundy color car because the mirror was impaled in my back,”
The dash cam video came from a waste truck driver who saw the incident.
