Christmas came early this year with the first look of Netflix's newest holiday film, The Merry Gentlemen, starring 2000s heartthrob Chad Michael Murray, slated for release next month!
Murray, alongside co-stars Britt Robertson and Marla Sokoloff, turns up the heat in this holiday hit with "hip-thrusting moves and heart-melting romance" including a few shirtless scenes from the One Tree Hill standout that already have fans on the edge of their seats.
First look photos depict the co-stars strolling through town and spending time in a bar where Murray's character dances.
The actor spoke to People shortly after the photos were revealed (specifically those of his chiseled figure) to discuss the "intense" training that went into filming the shirtless dancing scenes.
"I'd never danced professionally or trained by any means. I love going out and dancing. My wife [Sarah Roemer] and I have danced at a wedding or two and we dance on occasion and we goof around at the house, but nothing to this level."
Murray continued, revealing that training for roles gets harder as the years go on, but that he loves a good "challenge."
"As we get older, it's not as easy as it used to be when we were in our 20s, so it was a lot of work, dedication and focus. ... We were doing six-hour days in the dance hall. I got there before all the other guys so that I could learn the majority of all the things before they got there, because some of the guys have previous dance training. I wanted to be ahead of the curve so that I wasn't holding anybody back. If I was going to do this, I wanted to be all in."
The new holiday film is just one of many project's the Gilmore Girls alum has taken part in this year, appearing in Netflix's Mother of the Bride, released in May, and announcing his return to the big screen as Jake in the highly-anticipated Freaky Friday sequel, expected to hit theaters in 2025!
